If only working out in the gym could be this way. Here Mark is working with a 100kg mass during zero-g training. Even though that mass takes two people to carry it on the ground, it will float in front of you during weightlessness. But pushing it and stopping it while it is flying through the air takes a ton of effort. This part of the training is to make the cosmonauts used to dealing with 'heavy' objects during weightlessness... objects that have no 'weight', but plenty of inertia and momentum. |
