This pic shows one of the more complicated zero-g (weightlessness) training exercises, where the cosmonaut is required to bring a simulated piece of jointed equipment across the cabin, and to attach it to a mounting point on the cabin wall. What makes all of this tricky is the fact that the apparatus develops a life of its own in weightlessness... pulling on one end makes the other end do unexpected things. It usually takes two or three attempts before one gets the hang of working with uncooperative mechanical devices in weightlessness. |
