Rescue and Recovery Plans
The crew is briefed on the plans for their retrieval after landing. The Russians maintain a state of alert across all of their military bases that are in the orbital trajectory of the Soyuz during launch and re-entry. In the event of an off-nominal landing, the team should locate the Soyuz anywhere in the world within three days. Almost all Soyuz landings have been on target, within 30 km's of their expected touchdown zone.
